Operational directions of the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre ensures the collection, storage, and provision of environmental information to the public and national and municipal institutions, carries out environmental monitoring, assesses and manages deep earth resources, manages hazardous waste sites belonging to the state, and handles the safe management of radioactive and nuclear waste. It also participates in the implementation of national policy in geology, meteorology, climatology, hydrology, water and air quality, transboundary air pollution, and the management of radioactive and hazardous waste. The Centre maintains the national geology fund, sample repository, water data archive, and a scientific technical literature library.
