Information for Fishers in the Aģe River

More about:

Always wear a life jacket and make sure your clothing is appropriate for the weather conditions.

Bring drinking water and use sunscreen.

🌧️ After Heavy Rain – Beware of the Current
  • The Age River can become rapid and difficult to navigate after rain.

  • Water levels may rise suddenly, washing away belongings or making it hard to move along the bank.

⚡ During a Thunderstorm – Stay Away from the Water!
  • The river’s proximity makes anglers a lightning target — especially when using long spinning rods.

  • Signs of a storm: low pressure, dark clouds, sudden gusts of wind.

🌬️ Wind and Bushes – Be Careful with Fishing Rods
  • Strong wind along the Age River can tangle your line in tree branches.

  • Choose open areas, especially for spinning.

🌫️ Fog or Darkness – Protect Yourself and Your Path
  • Morning fog is common along the Age River – it makes orientation difficult and increases the risk of stepping into the water.

  • Use a headlamp or light if you go out early or late in the day.

❄️ Winter – The River May Be Deceptively Frozen
  • Unlike lakes, ice on the Age River is not always even – the current creates thin spots or cracks.

  • Make sure the ice is at least 10–12 cm thick before going out with an auger or gear.

🌱 Spring – Cold Water and Slippery Banks
  • In early spring, riverbanks can be muddy and slippery – there’s a risk of falling into icy water.

☀️ Summer Heat – Don’t Forget Sun Protection
  • Even in forested river sections, UV radiation is active.

  • Drink water and wear a hat.

Handle and release fish properly to minimize stress and injury.

Call 112 in case of emergency.
